Services and Future Plans

Services

MudBlosm Connections provides clothing, shoes, socks, cold weather items, hygiene products and whatever else is needed once a month at Potluck in the Park.

We also provide information for useful resources such as how to access addiction services,  housing wait lists, where to get their laundry done or take a shower. Sometimes all that is needed is someone to listen

MudBlosm Connections provides food from the Zero Hunger Zero Waste program through Fred Meyer to those that are experiencing food instability. Our volunteers deliver food seven days a week to treatment centers, homeless transitional housing, low income seniors and those without homes.

Future Plans

Future plans for MudBlosm Connections would be to (1) provide a mobile shower unit; (2) a voucher service to provide Uber or taxi services to clientele to get to detox units immediately when they make the decision to get clean; (3) develop an out-of-town community with small housing pods, a community garden, and van transport into cities for work, to provide a safer and healthier place for those who are at that place of change; (4) create more transition homes and/or coordinate with Oxford Houses; (5) increase coordination with existing municipal services like Central City Concern, Bridges to Change, Cascadia, Iron Tribe, CODA and NARA; (6) develop and strengthen volunteer networks and be a resource for community service projects; (7) increase community education and awareness for positive and constructive involvement; (8) We will support, encourage, and provide resources to promote creative expression in the form of painting, drawing, music, poetry and writing, et cetera, thus providing encouragement and motivation for healthy goals.

Believing that once a person has housing, they’re more likely to continue in a healthy lifestyle and become self-sufficient, alleviating the strain on municipal resources, Mudblosm Connections is dedicated to providing the foundation in whatever form is needed: mentoring those affected by drug and alcohol issues, driving or providing transportation to clients for treatment services, as well as food, clothing and respect.

Programs for Volunteers

At times, per the discretion of the board of directors we may provide volunteer opportunities for involvement in outreach activities and programs in order to have a greater impact for change. Volunteers may provide mentoring services, connection resources for other services, nutrition and diet as well as agricultural services if and when a community garden with community housing is established; providing needed transportation services to clients for everything from getting to treatment services, laundry and showers, job interviews, et cetera. Volunteers may provide web development services as well as other forms of media creation and distribution. Such activities shall always be free of charge to participants and will not include compensation to the volunteers.

Education

As the Covid Pandemic has exposed, anybody can become homeless. Often individuals are unaware of resources or are too proud to reach out when circumstances are leading them towards homelessness. MudBlosm Connections intends to provide educational opportunities to the public about homelessness through the forums of media interviews, slideshows at schools, libraries, and other public venues, as well as manning booths at city fairs and festivals.

MudBlosm Connections will chronicle its efforts and activities on the corporation’s website. By offering educational events and/or publications on its website MudBlosm Connections intends to educate the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to the community in advocating for the homeless of our community.

Disaster Relief

With the Northwest frequently affected by fires and floods, we will provide disaster relief aid through organizing volunteers to serve in affected areas by coordinating and carrying out the distribution of food, water, clothing and other necessities. The provisions will be derived from our general fund and public support.
